James Ralph Pouncey

True love never ends. God answered Jamess prayers, to never leave Mary Elizabeth Pouncey. Today, October 21, 2015, God reunited them in heaven.James, son of Willie Hatcher and Carl Pouncey, fulfilled not only Gods plans for his life, but his promise to Mary. James has demonstrated the definition of honoring the vows of a loyal husband and loving father. As always, God never fails and His love for His faithful servant is revealed on this day, October 21, by taking James home where he is once again holding Marys hand and walking the golden streets of heaven.A military funeral service on October 23, 2015 will begin with visitation at 9:30 am, funeral services at 11:00 am and a military graveside honor for Sgt. James R. Pounceys service to his country. All services will be held at County Line Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Wiggins and Dr. Greg Pouncey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to the American Cancer Society, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV).Honorary pall-bearers will be Jamess golf team from Enterprise Country Club.James served with pride in the US Army 82nd Airborne paratroopers. He later continued his service as sergeant in the Enterprise Army Reserve unit. He had the pleasure to have his son serve under his command. James was a true servant for his country.His other work included farming with his father and the Pouncey brothers. The remainder of his work career was at the State of Alabama Highway Department where he was superintendant. James loved sports. During his younger years, he played baseball, coached baseball, played softball, and umpired. At age 60, James decided he would start playing golf. He was an incredible athlete and loved playing and socializing with his friends. As this could turn into a book with many chapters, most importantly James served the Lord. He taught Sunday school, Training Union, served as Deacon and in many other missions. He honored his faith by building a Christian home and displaying a love to his wife of 64 years and to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. These are his greatest achievements.He was preceded into heaven by his loving wife Mary Strength Pouncey, parents Willie and Carl Pouncey and Brady and Vastie Strength, brothers Joe and Bill Pouncey, sister-in-laws Mary Martin Pouncey, Sara Pouncey, Jeanette Pouncey, Vesta Ataway, brothers-in-law Millard White, Rev. Jim, Donnie, and Ray Strength, and many beloved friends, cousins and other family members.He is survived by his children James Ronald Pouncey (Sherry Whiddon), Rhonda Joyce Dockery (Ken), Mary Fran Fayard (Robert), Mike Cooke, Andy Robbins and his adopted (nursing home) daughter Ginger Rabon. He is survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom love him dearly, Ryan Oliver (Gavin, Kinley, Gabe), Tambri Pouncey, Whitni Young (Ben, Abner James and John Thomas), James Michael Dockery (Maki, James Moto), Emily Dockery (Emma Kate), Anna Dockery (Jamie White, Mason White) Brandi Clayton (Nick, Mary Elizabeth arriving February 27, 2016) , and Allison Robbins. He is survived by his sister Mildred White, brothers Jack and Robert (Sue) Pouncey, brother in law Grady Strength (Modrey), and sister-in-laws June Walden (Hobson), Bonny, Eloise and Becky Strength, Linda B. Pouncey and Sandy Drake. He is survived by loving nieces and nephews who loved him not only as an uncle but as an additional father. He is survived by many loving cousins and friends. From his children to their mom and dad, thank you for all the many sacrifices you made for our family. Thank you for showing us that true love is such a rare and precious gift from God.
