Lewis T. Skinner, age 87, passed away on January 8, 2017. He was a Child of God, husband, father and Pawsie to five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran and later served in the Alabama National Guard. He was a building contractor, real estate broker and business owner before his retirement. He faithfully served the Lord at his church until his health did not permit him to do so. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at New Home Baptist Church with the Reverend Cliff Quincey officiating followed by burial at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mr. Skinner was born September 19, 1929 in Dale County to James M. and Bessie Andrews Skinner who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, JoAnn Herring Skinner; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Anley Gilley; son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Sheila Skinner all of Enterprise. Five grandchildren, Mitch Gilley and wife, Jennifer, of Enterprise; Eric Gilley and wife, Leia, of Enterprise; Jennifer Skinner Herb and husband, Danny, of Sydney, Australia; Michael Skinner and wife, Kristen, of Headland; and Misty Walters Thrash and husband, Jason, of Enterprise. Fourteen great-grandchildren, Katie Gilley Barfield and husband, Jesse; Anabeth Gilley, Barrett Gilley, Mason Gilley, Sidney Gilley, Adam Gilley, Sierra Stinson, Marissa Thrash and Holland Thrash all of Enterprise; Leo Feola, of Atlanta, GA; Navy and Andy Herb, of Sidney, Australia; Alyssa Skinner and Michael Lewis Skinner III (Bear), of Headland; and one great-great-grandchild, Walker Barfield, of Enterprise; one sister, Doris Turner and her husband, Austin, of Clopton; and one brother, Leslie Skinner and wife, Joyce, of Hartford.
