Dr. C. Wayne Roberts

Dr. C. Wayne Roberts, age 76, of Enterprise, AL, passed away, Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Medical Center Enterprise.             Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Enterprise with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 12:30 P.M.             In 1969 Dr. Roberts established his long time practice, West Gate Veterinary Hospital, and practiced veterinary medicine for more than 45 years. During his long and distinguished career, Dr. Roberts served on many local veterinary boards, the Alabama Executive Board, and numerous state committees, before holding state offices as became president of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Roberts was appointed by Governor Hunt to serve on Alabama’s State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and appointed to a second term by Governor James. Because of his dedication he was honored by being selected Alabama Veterinarian of the Year in 1995 and was awarded the Wilford S. Bailey Distinguished Auburn Alumni Award in 2003. Dr. Roberts was a devoted member of the Rotary Club and has served on almost every local and district Rotary committee and as president in 1975-76. He was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow and became Area 7 assistant governor while serving in the Rotary Club. Dr. Roberts was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Enterprise where he served as Deacon for many years. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN. 38148.             Dr. Roberts was preceded in death by his son, Bo Roberts.             Survivors include his wife, Mary Hart Roberts, Enterprise; two daughters, Kelly Sorrells (David) Birmingham, AL; Theresa Roberts Boykin, Enterprise; five grandchildren, Conner Gorman Sorrells; Anna Catherine Sorrells, both of Birmingham, AL; Jack Boykin; Mary Margaret Boykin; Bo Boykin, all of Enterprise; two sisters, Jeanette McAnulty (Elmer) Gordon, AL; Debbie Casey, Dothan, AL; two brothers, Tony Roberts, Gordon, AL; Paul Roberts (Julie) Val Rico, FL.
