Marina Botero Polley

Marina Botero Polley, 88, a resident of Enterprise passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 2, 2017.   The family will be receiving visitors in the vestibule in St. John Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 6, 2017, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. John Catholic Church building fund.   Affectionately known as ‘Mama Polley’ to her family, Marina was born May 13, 1928, in Colombia, South America. Our Mother came to Grand Isle, Louisiana as a new bride from her home land Bogota, Colombia, South America in Oct. 1957. She was following her childhood dream of moving to a powerful country and having beautiful children. Through the years Mom worked hard learning the English language and American culture while providing a nurturing home for her husband and ‘three beautiful children’. Marina was a charter member of St. John Catholic Church serving on different ladies’ committees for many years. In addition to being a faithful Catholic, usually attending daily mass, she was an elementary school volunteer and good friend to her neighbors. Our Mom was also well known for giving counsel to her own children and the many teenagers who passed through her home as friends of her children. Our Mom loved long walks outside, sewing, gardening, the beach, cooking for sick friends and she loved the United States of America. She proudly became a United States citizen on Feb. 26, 1993.   Marina was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Polley, Sr, her parents, Julio and Esther Botero, two brothers, Cyro and Pablo Botero and a sister Fabiola Newman.   Survivors include: her son, William H. Polley Jr. (Bill), Panama City Beach, FL, two daughters, Elizabeth Pittman (Tica), Enterprise, AL and Nancy Polley of Queensland, Australia, two grandchildren Win Pittman (Heather), Madeline Abio, and great-grandson Trey Pittman. Our Mother also leaves behind two sisters, Esther Julia Botero and Cecilia Faccini, in Bogota, Colombia along with numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends across two continents. The family wishes to thank Mom’s Church family and the administrators and staff of Hartford Health Care and Wynnwood Oaks for their dedicated love, care and family support.
