James W. (Lamar) Cawley, a resident of Enterprise, died Monday morning, March 6, 2017, in the Dale Medical Center, Ozark, following an extended illness. He was 85. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Searcy Funeral Home Chapel, 725 S. Daleville Avenue, Daleville. Holman-Headland Mortuary and Searcy Funeral Home of Daleville are in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cawley was a native of Coffee County, near the Fairview community, and lived in Enterprise most of his lifetime. He retired from Beckham Vault & Ditching Service in Enterprise after fifty six years of employment and operated the first backhoe in Coffee County. Mr. Cawley was preceded in death by his father, William Joshua Cawley, his mother and step-father, Willie Mae Carpenter and Grady Johnson, three sisters, Bobbie Jeanette Metcalf, Betty Ann Raffield, and Faye Todd, two brothers, Charles Cawley and Wayne Johnson. Surviving relatives include his wife, Patricia Poore Cawley, Enterprise; two daughters, Naomi Cawley and Vicky Alexander (Gary), all of Level Plains; two step-daughters, Jennifer L. Davies (Michael) and Christina Wilmoth, all of Enterprise; two sons, James Cawley (Maudrine), Daleville and Jerome Cawley (Anita), Enterprise; three sisters, Shirley Monette, Nevada, Gail Reeves (Leo), Enterprise, and Sue Ellenburg, Florala; a sister-in-law, Juanita Johnson, Chancellor; three brothers, Billy Ray Johnson (Patricia), Cottonwood, Gerald Johnson (Angie), Dothan, and Larry Johnson (Lori), Enterprise; three grandchildren, Melanie Tritt (John), Stafford Cawley (Maria) and Garreth Cawley; two step-grandchildren, Gavin Wilmoth and Logan Davies; two great-great grandchildren, JT Tritt and Brooke Tritt; mother of his children, Julia Creamer Cawley, Level Plains.
