CSM (Ret) William Edward Haddon, 45, of Ozark, AL, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Aviation Museum, at Fort Novosel, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to this fund created to carry the family through the transition.
William devoted 25 years to the United States Army, enlisting at the vibrant age of 17 in 1997. His life changed forever in 2001 at Fort Rucker, where he met his soulmate, Sarah, in an air traffic control classroom. Their love-at-first-sight romance, though it briefly cost Will his rank due to fraternization, was a sacrifice he proudly declared “worth it.” Together, they embraced the whirlwind of military life—relocations, deployments, and the joy of raising their two daughters, Kayla and Brianna. Their journey took them to Fort Drum, Fort Belvoir, Fort Hood, Fort Bliss, and back to Fort Rucker, where their love story began. Will served with distinction, completing three tours in Afghanistan, one in Iraq, and one in Bosnia, earning the Legion of Merit, three Bronze Stars, and numerous other honors.
Beyond his military service, Will was a man of the outdoors, finding solace in hunting, fishing, and, more recently, golf. Music fueled his spirit, with heavy metal holding a special place in his heart. Above all, Will cherished his family. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather—affectionately called “Bapooh” by his granddaughter Ariel—he created cherished memories at the beach, concerts, cookouts, and countless outdoor adventures.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Lynn Gayle Haddon. His legacy of love, service, and joy lives on in his family and all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Sarah Haddon, Ozark, AL; four daughters, Kayla Jones (Dareyon), Columbus, GA; Brianna Haddon, Ozark, AL; Emily Haddon, McAllen, TX; Mackenzie Haddon, McAllen, TX; granddaughter, Ariel Delilah Jones; father, Robert Arnold Haddon, Drumore, PA; two brothers, Tim Hackert and Bob Hackert.
