Doris Martin

Doris Taft Martin of Dothan, AL passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Wesley Place.  She was 95.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.

Doris came to Enterprise in 1969 and was known to many as Mama Doris.  She was the Director of Religious Education at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for many years.  Doris loved her position and poured her artistic touch into it.  She was an award winning artist.  Doris loved having a table full of family and friends.  She was also a Den Mother with Cub Scouts and worked with the Boy Scouts wherever the family was stationed at the time. 

She was preceded in death by two sons George C. Martin, Jr and Patrick H. Martin, II, daughter Mary Elizabeth Browning and two grandsons Thomas Martin and Ryan Nolan.  

Survivors include her children, Penelope T. Duerr, Long Island, NY; Kathleen M. Nemish, Dothan, AL; Col (Ret) Edwin H. Martin (Shirley), Huntsville, AL; Daniel J. Martin (Patricia), Shalimar, FL; Angela J. Martin, Dothan, AL; Lt Col (Ret) Stuart K. Martin (Kristin), Ocala, FL; David M. Martin (Deborah), Pace, FL; grandchildren, Amanda Martin Middleton, Daniel James Martin, Jr., Darlene Duerr, David Martin, Jr., Donald Duerr, Jr., Kevin Martin, Kimberley Martin, Mario Martin, Nicholas Martin, Sean Martin, Stacey Martin O’Donnell, Steven Martin, Terrance Nolan; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
