Dorothy Louise Brabham

November 7, 1926 — March 28, 2025

Enterprise

Dorothy Louise Brabham transitioned on March 28, 2025.

She was born November 7, 1926, in Samson, AL, to Annie Phillips Wilks and R. A. Wilks. She told us her life truly began November 4, 1945, when she met the love of her life, Horace Brabham. They married one month later and honeymooned for 70 years until his death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at County Line Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing.

Mother was famous for her cooking expertise and shared her food and recipes with friends and family. She enjoyed gardening and loved sharing vegetables with whoever needed them. She was an accomplished seamstress. She loved her church and was a member of County Line Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving on committees and caring for the needs of others.

She worked as a telephone operator in the Signal office at Fort Rucker and received commendations for her quick thinking in emergencies.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Brabham, two sisters and a brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Janis Kelley, (Stephen), Rita White (Bill), five grandchildren, Heather Foxworth, Gabriel Goodson (Tonya), Suzy Lindblom (Josh), Steve Kelley, Garrick Kelley (Karee), five great-grandchildren, and three great- great grandchildren.

A wise and loving mother, we have collected some of her sayings. Some wise, some funny such as "Well that beats the goosey Gobs."

If we told her we would be up for a visit in a few days, she always said, "I'll be looking for you. Don't disappoint me.” We know she is in heaven with the saints looking down on us now and saying, “I’ll be looking for you; don't disappoint me."

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either the County Line Baptist Church Building Fund, the County Line Baptist Church Music Fund, 1000 Hwy. 92 Enterprise, AL, or Dayspring Hospice 1275 James Dr., Suite A, Enterprise, AL 36330.
