Dorothy Lee Wesley

September 16, 1929 — May 20, 2022

Dorothy (Dot) Lee Wesley died on Friday, May 20, 2022, at age 92. She was born September 16, 1929 in Enterprise, Alabama, to Bessie Couch and James Marvin Lee, joining her older brother, Dewey Riley Lee. Dot was a member of the 1947 graduating class of Coffee Springs High School, Coffee Springs, Alabama. On June 1, 1949 she became the bride of Kirby Edward Wesley and together they made their home in the Mount Pleasant and Chancellor communities until Kirby’s death in May 2001. During their 52 year union they reared five children – four daughters and one son. Always active in her community, Dot served faithfully in many roles. She was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, PTA volunteer and participated in every activity involving her children. Dot was a talented seamstress who created fashion ensembles for herself and her daughters, making everything from uniforms to costumes for school activities to specially designed wedding gowns. She was depended on to make any outfit her daughters could imagine … quite an asset with all those girls! Crafting and decorating were other areas where Dot excelled. She loved birthdays and holidays, most especially Christmas, and planned and prepared months in advance. Well-known in the community for her decorating flair as well as her meals and party menus, Dot and Kirby hosted numerous holiday events. Guests always commented that the season wasn’t complete without attending one of their gatherings. Dot had unlimited energy and strength. Always busy, she still found time for enjoying music and dancing. With her zest for life, she leaves a legacy of gracious hospitality and sheer joy for celebrating, making even ordinary events more meaningful. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Karl Hudson officiating.
