Earl Thomas Wright, of Enterprise, AL, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Flowers Hospital. He was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April, 28, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time.
Earl was known for his easygoing nature, warm heart, and quick wit. Earl lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, and love for the great outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Earl found peace and purpose in nature. Whether he was casting a line at dawn or trekking through the woods at dusk, he felt most at home under the open skies. Earl had a natural gift for making others smile. He appreciated a good joke and was never one to pass up the chance to tell one himself. He had a great sense of humor, his spirit generous, and his presence calming. He was a definition of family and sacrifice to us. Our family could always count on him for anything. We were lucky to have him as a devoted husband and father. We will never forget you.
He served honorably in the US Army for more than 20 years. His service took him all around the globe which including Korea, where he met his wife; along with Okinawa, Germany as well as numerous locations across the US. He retired from the Army at Fort Novosel (Fort Rucker). After his military service, he also worked for the Jones Cash and Carry Hardware Store, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He also had many skills and was considered a jack of all trades. He was once a Welding instructor at Wallace College in Dothan, AL, where he passed his skills and knowledge to his students.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents Garland and Bessie Wright; his brothers Ron and Clayton Wright; along with his son-in-law Gary L. Josephson and grandchildren Tavares and Maceo.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Soon Ee Wright, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Connie Josephson, Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Thomas Wright, Sunrise, FL; James Wright (Paula), Miramar, FL; Calvin Wright, Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Selena, Brittney, Dylan, Shauntavia, Christopher, Jackson, Chloe, Heather, Stephanie, Hope, Phillip Justin, Ronnie; two sisters, Annette Curry, Loretta Smith; brother, John Wright (Maryann), along with several nieces, nephews and great-grand children.
