Edith Elaine Loard King, wife, mother, grandmother, friend to all, and a faithful child of God, died on November 15, 2023 at her home in Enterprise, Alabama after a long and fulfilling life. Born on April 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey Madison Loard and the late Bessie Jewell Walker Loard. She was a lifelong church musician having played piano and organ in various churches starting as a young teenager and not stopping until after age 87. In addition, she taught hundreds of students through the years with private piano lessons in her home. Her thirst for education could not be quenched and she returned for her Bachelors in Music from Troy State University as an adult. In the community she served as president of the Garden Club and was a faithful member of the Music Club. Edith enhanced the lives of those around her with her gift as a pianist and her interest in flower arrangement, gardening, and cooking. She was able to see and capture the beauty of the world through music and other forms of artistic expression. She is survived by her husband Wiley Dauphin King, her son Philip Dauphin King and wife, Janet, of Lexington NC, her daughter Loletta Elaine Jordan of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Bradley King and wife, Karla, of Winston-Salem, NC, Joshua King and wife, Abbey, of Greensboro, NC, Cameron Jordan, Jessica Jordan, Dr. Maranda Jordan, and Gillian Jordan of Cincinnati OH; step-grandchildren Chris Jackson of Marshall, NC, Erin Whittington of Archdale, NC, and a sweet handful of much beloved great grandchildren. A time of receiving friends at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory will occur at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2023 followed by a service at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel with Reverend Dr. Nathan Sims officiating. A graveside service and interment will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. The family wishes to express appreciation to the representatives of Dayspring Hospice LLC and to Mrs. Christine Sikes for very professional and gentle care.
