Elfriede Elizabeth Schreieck Herring

Mrs. Herring passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at an assistance living home in Claxton, Georgia, one day before her ninety-second birthday. Mrs. Herring was born in Bamberg, Germany. She came to the United States in 1964 after marrying the love of her life in 1961. Mrs. Herring lived most of her time in Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. In 2012, she moved to Claxton, Georgia. Mrs. Herring will always be remembered dearly as Oma to her family. She was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother. Mrs. Herring will also be remembered for her delicious German meals, crocheting sweaters and booties for her grandchildren, the afghans she gave as gifts and playing the harmonica. There will be a family memorial service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory in Enterprise, Alabama. Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Linwood, a son Robert Herring, and a daughter Traudy Ferguson. Mrs. Herring is survived by a son Patric Herring (Kathryne) of New Brockton, Alabama. Five grandchildren also survive, Peter Herring (Christi), Amanda Pease (Jason), Sarah Pirkle (Taylor), all of Enterprise, Alabama; Ron Ferguson (Lynda) and Candace Bridwell, both of Claxton, Georgia, as well as eighteen great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and special friends Bonnie Sapp and Donald Jernigan.
