Emogene Shivers Cline, 87, passed away peacefully at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center on June 28, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Meadowlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating.. She will be buried at Meadowlawn Memorial Park next to her mother and sister. Emogene, also known as sweet Gene, was born in Dothan, AL on November 18, 1932. Sweet Gene lived most of her life in Enterprise and was proud to call it her hometown. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Enterprise. Gene was an active member of the Enterprise Federated Music Club and the Enterprise Federated Garden Club, where she held several elected positions at both the local and state level. Gene was a naturally creative person. She loved flowers and competed in and won many flower arranging competitions then used these talents to prepare beautiful wedding arrangements for many local Enterprise brides. Gene enjoyed playing board and card games and spent many hours with friends playing bridge. Music was also a special love of Gene's, as was entertaining family and friends with exquisite and delicious dinner parties. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with a good book, while waiting to see another magnificent sunset. Sweet Gene seemed to have never met a stranger. She always had a smile to share and could strike up a conversation with anyone at any place or time. Gene especially loved her Birthday Girls and bridge partners. Gene is preceded in death by her parents, Mercer Collins Shivers and Louvenia Gantt Shivers, her brother Luchel O. Shivers, and sister Shirley Ann Merritt. Survivors include her son, Mark Cline; daughters, Denise Cline (Dennis Morin), Cymantha Higgins (Darrell Connelly), and Wendy Crenshaw (David); five grandchildren, Forrest Higgins, Amber Higgins, Skylar Crenshaw, Paris Crenshaw, and Fallon Crenshaw; two nieces, Cassie Merritt Meehan and Paige Merritt Wright, two nephews, Jason Merritt and Blair Merritt, and 4 great-nephews and one great-niece. Our family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff and nurses at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center, and most especially to Tahara Cole, for the care and kindness they provided to our mother.
