Floyd Edward Rodgers

Floyd Edward Rodgers of Chancellor, Alabama, passed away on June 21, 2023. He was 72. A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama, on Thursday, June 29 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Michael Mynatt and Chaplain (Colonel Retired) Sonny Moore officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the United States Army Aviation Museum, P.O. Box 620610, Fort Novosel, AL 36362. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Deborah, their daughters, Crystal Bell (Brad) of Dothan, AL; Catherine Galimore (Bo) of Chancellor, AL; and six grandchildren Ross Bell, Seth Bell, Madison McKnight, Maggie McKnight, Gavin Galimore, and Harper Galimore. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul Rodgers (LaVera) of Chancellor, AL; and Dwayn Rodgers (Glenda) of Chancellor, AL; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James Herbert Rodgers and Myra Nell Nichols Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a graduate of Coffee Springs High School and a graduate of Troy State University. He later began his career in civil service at Fort Rucker. In addition to his years at Fort Rucker, Mr. Rodgers worked in civil service at Fort Clayton, Panama, and Fort McPherson, Georgia. Mr. Rodgers served as the Director of Resource Management at Fort Rucker for many years and retired from civil service in 2009. During his time at Fort Rucker, Mr. Rodgers survived the attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Since his retirement from civil service, Mr. Rodgers has served as a board member for All In Credit Union. Mr. Rodgers was an advocate for Fort Rucker and served many roles in an effort to support the growth and prestige of the institution. He served in many leadership roles, including the Wiregrass Chapter of the Association of the United States Army, Army Aviation Association of America, Friends of Fort Rucker, and the United States Army Aviation Museum Foundation Board, where he worked to preserve the history of army aviation.
