Gary Lee Meredith, age 91, died in his home in Enterprise on February 6, 2023. He was born in Independence, Missouri on February 20, 1931. After graduating high school in Bourbon, Missouri, he joined the Air Force. Mr. Meredith moved to Enterprise and was employed at Fort Rucker as a test pilot. He served in the Air Force and Army National Guard for 40 years, including the 20th Special Forces Group. A memorial service will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s, Wounded Warriors at Fort Rucker, or Toys for Tots. Mr. Meredith was an avid pilot including airplane, helicopter, sailplane, seaplane, hang glider, and hot air balloon. He built and flew his own aerobatic airplane and gyrocopters. He enjoyed scuba diving, underwater photography, blacksmithing, bow making, wood carving, and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their daughter, Linda, their sons, Thomas and Timothy, and six grandchildren: Jared, Shelby, Madison, Savannah, Cameron, and Lexie. He is also survived by his sister, niece, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son Bernie.
