George Frederick Ellis III “Fred” was born on March 27, 1929 in Miami, Florida, where he grew up. He dedicated his life to serving in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot, and flight instructor, retiring after 25 years of active service. Since 1947 he was married to Dorothy “Dottie” Ellis who preceded him in death on March 2, 2006. Fred and Dottie were life members of the Escapee RV Club, owning several motorhomes of their own. They worked as volunteer staff at 24 escapades travelling across the country, were volunteer club representatives, and past presidents of chapter 27 in Florida. Fred and Dottie were active members at First Baptist Church in Level Plains, Alabama. Fred moved to live with his daughter in 2018 in Texas due to health reasons. He was called to meet his Lord on December 7, 2019 in Fort Worth, Texas. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Brinkley, grandson, Joshua Lang, sister-in-law, Barbara Collins, and many friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Fred’s favorite organization: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
