George T. Shimko, Jr.

George Thomas Shimko, age 81, of Daleville, AL, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his home. A memorial service, with full military honors, will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. EST, at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. He was retired from the U. S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Mr. Shimko was preceded in death by a his parents, George and Theresa Shimko; sister, Joan Werkheiser and a brother, Joseph Shimko. Survivors include his wife, Vera (Candy) Shimko, Daleville, AL; 4 step-children; 3 sisters, Frances Yando; Mary Shimko; Kathy Stidham (Gary); a brother, Donald Shimko; several nieces and nephews.
