In 1971, they moved to Miami, FL where George worked and retired again from Pepsi Cola. In 1980, they moved to Geneva, AL and lived there up to George’s death in 1983. A few years later, Ms. Georgia met and later married James Rodney in May of 2001. Mr. Rodney passed away November 20, 2016. Mrs. Rodney really enjoyed life until her health began to decline. The last few years of her life, she was mostly confined to her home. She loved her cats, enjoyed talking about her close relationship with God. Most days, she would enjoy the Gospel preaching and singing on TV. She truly believed heaven would someday be her home. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Rodney is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Max and Edmund, and a sister Leavon. Survivors include a nephew, Phillip DuRant Jr. (Kay); niece, Barbara Lawson (Billy), Black, AL, great-nephew, Phillip DuRant III (Hannah), great-great-nephews, Phillip IV and Zander DuRant, great-great-niece Lennon Beth DuRant, all of Hartford, AL; also a host of other nephews and nieces; and a very special Caregiver, Lisa Lozano. Lisa stayed by Mrs. Rodney’s side and gave her excellent care for four years. Lisa was like a family member and also was a blessing to all; her other Caregivers were Dianne Baker, Stephanie Spivey, Bethanie Gibson and Kathy Morrow. The family would like to thank the caring nurses at DaySpring Hospice and Dr. Jamie Jones and staff for the love and compassion during our time of need.
