Jeffrey Donald Mathews (John) of Elba, AL passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his home. He was 61. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with his brother, Bobby Mathews, officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Jeffrey was a lifelong resident of Coffee County. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen (Kathy) Mathews, stepmother Mavis Tidwell Mathews, and his mother-and father-in-law Rosie and Hubert Thomas. Survivors include his wife of more than 20 years, Wanda Mathews; stepsons Jonathan Dean, Timothy Brookshire and David Dean; step-grandchildren, Isabella Brookshire and Brandon Dean; mother, Mae (Tommie) Money Snell; father, Wesley Cisroe Mathews; sister, Darlene Mathews Mock; brothers, Don Snell (Cersha); Bobby Mathews (Misty); Jerry Snell (Amanda); numerous uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
