Jewell Bludsworth Kelley, a resident of Coffee Springs, went to Heaven on May 1, 2017 from Enterprise Nursing Home. She was 99 years old. Visitation will be Saturday, May 6 at 10:00 A.M. at Searcy Funeral Home with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Coffee Springs Senior Center, 195 Spring Street, Coffee Springs, AL 36318 or to Kindred Hospice, 1208 Rucker Blvd., Enterprise, AL 36330. Jewell was born July 17, 1917 in Coffee County and lived most of her life in Coffee Springs. She was a dedicated member and Sunday School teacher of Coffee Springs United Methodist Church. For decades Jewell touched many lives as a substitute teacher at Coffee Springs School and then as a Postal employee in Coffee Springs, Geneva, and Enterprise. Her most important role in life was serving her Lord and Savior. She volunteered for The American Cancer Society from its inception and for nearly two decades with what is now Kindred Hospice. Jewell was recently honored as Kindred Hospice’s Volunteer of the Month and as their oldest volunteer. She used her gift of sewing to benefit Hospice patients and at the Coffee Springs Senior Center, where she was given the Master Quilter award. She was preceded in death by her husband Milburn O. Kelley, two brothers and two sisters, her son-in-law and grandson. Survivors include her daughter, Sara K. Gilley; granddaughters, Kel Gilley Locklar (Hank) and Susan Gilley Bell (Dwayne); great-grandsons, Nathan Locklar (Carey), Ryan Bell, and Ian Bell; great-great-grandchildren, Anna, Jackson, Caleb and Lucy Locklar. The family is thankful for the staff of Enterprise Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for the love and care given to their Mother/Grandma.
