Louis Berecz

CW4 (Ret) Louis Berecz, of Panama City, FL (formerly of Enterprise, AL), passed away, Monday, December 4, 2023 at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay. He was 96. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 8, 2023 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Cliff Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 P.M. until service time. Louis was born in Bela Patfalva, Hungary on November 3, 1927. He fled Communist Hungary, worked and walked to Germany. Louis later joined the United States Army, where he met his wonderful, beautiful wife Elsa. They had three beautiful children. Louis lived life to the fullest, loved to travel and dance. He was a wonderful man and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Louis retired after 30 years of service in the United States Army. He served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Louis received the Bronze Star along with other meritorious medals. Louis is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Elsa Berecz. Survivors include his daughters, Monika Matthews (Lloyd) Panama City, FL and her children, Christopher, Jeremy and Cindy Matthews; daughter, Ilonka Terry (Henry) Panama City, FL and her children, Sheven Arnold and Anthony Terry; his son, Peter Berecz, Enterprise, AL and his daughter, Simone Berecz; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
