A graveside funeral service for Mary Frank Brunson Normand, 97, of Enterprise, will be held Thursday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m., at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Normand died at her home in Enterprise, Alabama on March 15 after a short illness following a fall. Mrs. Normand was the daughter of the late Horace Frank Brunson and the late Georgia Lee Brunson of Enterprise, Alabama. She was a resident of Enterprise for over 60 years. After high school graduation, she and her dear cousin Maude Parker attended business college in Ozark, Alabama. Soon after, she began working at Camp Rucker, where she met Felix A. (Joe) Normand, Jr. They soon married and were stationed in Japan, where Mary served on General Douglas MacArthur’s staff. Upon their return to Enterprise, Mary became the secretary to young attorney Joe Cassady, Sr., for 6 years. She then went back to civil service at Fort Rucker, working with a number of the commanding generals there, and she maintained a lifelong friendship with General Ellis Parker and his family. She retired from civil service after 33 years. In her retirement years she spent many hours visiting and sitting with ailing relatives, friends, and neighbors and helping them in any way she could. Mary was also active in church activities and shared her beautiful alto voice whenever possible. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church, 3004 County Road 708, Enterprise, AL 36330. Pallbearers will be her cousins, Bo Lee, Lee Parker, Pleas Parker, and Richard Brunson and great-grandsons Brunson Hall and Paxton Hanshaw. Mrs. Normand is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Normand and her best friend and cousin, Maude Parker Averett. Survivors include a son, Felix A. Normand III, Little Rock, Arkansas, and a daughter, Felicia Normand Hall, Enterprise; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas Alan Hall and Wendy Leigh McWaters, of Enterprise, and Cory Normand of Benton, Arkansas. Her 5 great-grandchildren, Brunson Hall, Auburn, Aria Normand, Benton, AR, Pittman Hall, Paxton Hanshaw and Paysen Hanshaw, all of Enterprise, also mourn her passing. She was a trusted friend and always interesting conversationalist to her cousins and other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dayspring Hospice and to Pamela McNair Sikes and Vickie Head, the two best sitters ever.
