Michael Dean Casey, (Mike) 74, of New Brockton, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024 in the loving embrace of his devoted wife, Dottie.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Dottie Casey of New Brockton, AL.; daughters, Jamie Jones, Vietnam and Jenna Davis (Nelson) Destin, FL; granddaughters Emily and Daisy: brother, Don (Corrine); sister, Suzanne; and niece, Cheryl Peterson, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Frances Casey; daughter Janie; and his sister, Helen Karnes. Mike took great joy in hearing his daughters, Jamie and Jenna, sing. Their voices filled his heart with pride and happiness. Inspired by their music, he began learning to play the guitar, hoping someday he might play alongside them and share in the music they loved so much. Mike had a unique sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He lived a life of remarkable achievements, service, and love. A skilled and courageous pilot, he was a Flight Instructor with Flight Safety International at Ft. Rucker, AL. He flew commercially and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he had the honor of being the first pilot in U.S. airspace after the tragic events of 9/11.

His passion for aviation was only matched by his love for motorcycling. As an avid motorcyclist, Mike not only enjoyed the thrill of the open road but also dedicated himself to teaching motorcycle safety classes to ensure others rode with confidence and care.

He taught his wife, Dottie, how to ride and they enjoyed many years of "wind therapy" together. A true patriot, Mike was deeply committed to honoring and supporting Veterans. He served as a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders. But perhaps his most profound legacy was his unwavering faith. Mike was a devoted Christian and Biblical Citizenship and Constitution Coach. He endeavored to lead by example. He was a stickler for the rules but a very honest and fair man. Mike volunteered much of his spare time visiting with and reading the Bible to residents of Madison Heights and Kelly Place Assisted Living Facilities in Enterprise, AL. His compassionate spirit and dedication to sharing God’s word left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He took great pride in referring to himself as a "Whosoever" (Romans 10:13) and enjoyed sharing his faith. In accordance with Mike's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. However, a Celebration of Life will be held to honor his memory. The date for this special gathering will be announced soon. We invite all who knew him to join us in celebrating the incredible life of a man who touched so many hearts with his kindness, faith, and love. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Franklin Graham’s Samaritan's Purse, a charity that was close to his heart and one he proudly supported. Michael’s legacy of service, faith, and love will continue to inspire everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed, but not forgotten! "Absent from the body is present with the Lord".
