Miriam Helms Hughes

Miriam Helms Hughes of Enterprise, AL passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Mrs. Hughes was 94 years old. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before service time. Mrs. Hughes was born, December 2, 1928 to Cammell Lee and Menvie Knight Helms from the Bethany Community. She married Wadeus H. Hughes on December 25, 1947. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Wadeus Hughes, sister Ozella Jacobs and brother Quinton Helms. Survivors include her daughter, Lea Love (James), Matthews, NC; son, Gregory Hughes (Michelle), Enterprise, AL; four granddaughters, Rachel Davis, Mobile, AL; Rebekah Dawson (Cadence), Mobile, AL; Blair Johnston (Eric), Boone, NC; Emma Sides (Trevor), Waxhaw, NC; great-grandchildren, Eli Davis, Grant Davis, Dudley Glenn, Sarah Glenn and Jacob Glenn; brother, Roger Helms (Jean), Ozark, AL; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Hughes, Enterprise, AL; Myrtle Helms, Sacramento, CA.
