Myra Clentontyne Cockerham, 87, of Gainesville, GA and formerly of Enterprise, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Gainesville. She joined her husband, Ray L. Cockerham, in Heaven on their 63rd Wedding anniversary. Myra, or "Clent" as her husband and family members called her, was born in Athens, Louisiana and she and Ray shared the very same birthday, June 6, 1930. She traveled for years with her family as her husband served in the United States Army. She was employed as secretary in numerous capacities throughout the United States, beginning at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. After retirement, they settled in Enterprise, AL where she lived until 2015 when she joined her son and family in Gainesville, GA. She was a loving, faithful wife, and an attentive mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing Bingo, camping, shopping for great deals at yard sales, and spoiling her grandchildren. Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Bea Kirkwood, and her husband, Ray L. Cockerham. She is survived by three children, Ron Cockerham of Enterprise, AL, Lee Costlow (Dianne) of Gainesville, GA and Beth Bass (Kirby)of Tallahassee, FL; by three grandchildren, Rob Westerling (Jaime), Leane Snow, and Brandi Roberts (Jonathan); by six great-grandchildren, Natalie Westerling, Tristan and Kaya Snow, and Brooklyn, Cameryn, and Londyn Roberts. She is also survived by one sister, Clara McMullen, of Potomac Falls, VA and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Pkwy, Ste, 222, Gainesville, GA 30501, who provided excellent care for Myra and her entire family during her illness. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise, Alabama. All Friends and Family are invited to attend.
