Ray Connor passed this morning, Wednesday, January 03, 2018, at his Son's house in Roswell, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with Rev. Mike Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:30 A.M. Ray was one of the last of his kind. He was a man of integrity and kindness. He would always do the right thing no matter the consequences. He joined the Army at the age of 17, he was on the ship headed to fight in WW II and the war ended. He did two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. He had an 8th grade education and lost his father when he was 4 years old. He was a man’s man and excelled at everything he set his mind to. He had one love in his life, Lois Rebecca Martin. She was dating his brother and he asked her out and they went on one date, a chicken fight at 6:30 in the morning. He left for his third tour to Korea but wanted to marry Lois and ask if he had to go and the army told him he didn't have to go the last time. So they got married, Lois was told that she would never have children. They both never lost faith and on May 20th 1954 first son was born. They said it was a miracle. Then with another tour of Duty in Germany Lois got pregnant and had another son, again a miracle. Ray was a great father and loving husband. He was a devout Christian. God truly blessed him and he touched many lives. Heaven is getting a good one and he will help get things organized. He is survived by his two son's Joseph Ray Connor Jr and Dwayne Edward Connor. 4 Grandchildren: Joseph R Connor III, Christopher B Connor, Casedy Connor, and Alexis Vanderford. 4 Great Grand Children: Haley McNatt, Preston Vanderford, Aiden Vanderford and Tate Vanderford.
