In loving memory of MSGT Raymond “Don” “Pops” Lazenby. He retired from the US Army after serving 25 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He served 8 years as a marine mechanic/operator at Ft. Story, VA. He changed his MOS to aviation, serving in Korea, Ft. Hood, TX, Germany, and finished out his career at Ft. Rucker, AL as an aviation instructor. We never celebrated a Holiday with less than twenty-five young solders that were unable to be home with their families. He always invited them to join our table. He held contract positions in Saudi Arabia as a mechanic helping train country nationals. He was in Columbia South America training country nations on Aviation matters for drug eradication. When asked why, he would always tell people to help keep our country drug free. He volunteered with Youth Activities as a coach for bowling, soccer, t-ball, baseball and wherever needed. While serving in Korea he volunteered his off time helping at a nearby orphanage. He was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a friend to all he met. He was always there to lend a hand or an ear to those in need. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Johnson Lazenby, sons, Joshua Lazenby and Mark Lazenby, three grandchildren, Avery Lazenby, Michael Lazenby and Josh Lazenby, daughter-in-law, Misty Hubbard Lazenby, wife of Mark, two sisters, Deloris Skelton and Jean Foster, one brother, Jerry Lazenby, all of Mississippi. The only promise he will ever break to his wife of 48 years is not being able to celebrate fifty years together. Rest in peace my love. You were my heart.
