Robert A. Anderson

Robert Alvin Anderson, “Bob”, went to, and with, the glory and honor of his Heavenly Father on November 15, 2019, after an extended illness. He was 73. He was interred with full military honors at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, on January 16, 2020.   Bob was born on November 5, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Callie Kathleen Wheeler and Alvin Larsen Anderson. His father was a career military man and Bob lived in a multitude of different locations during his childhood including Japan. He graduated from Las Cruces Senior High School (New Mexico) in 1965 and enlisted in the U.S. Army that summer. While in the Army from 1965-1968, Bob was a drone maintainer, a lifeguard, and a “Huey” crew chief. It was during this time that he served a six-month tour in Vietnam. After his enlistment, Bob primarily lived in the Las Vegas and St. George, Utah, areas. In 1971 he met and later married Lillian Elizabeth Jacobson O’Hara, “Lillibeth”. They had one son together, Shane. In 1973 Bob sought, and achieved, a warrant officer commission as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army. He rose to the rank of CW2 and the duty of rotary-wing instructor. Bob arrived in Daleville in November of 1979 for his final stationing at Fort Rucker. He left the Army in 1982 and started his career as a contract rotary-wing instructor, teaching young Army officers to become the best helicopter pilots in the world. He continued this until his retirement in 2014. In 1986 Bob met the love of his life, Chong Hui Yi. They married the next year and were married for almost thirty-two years. He became a father to her son, Timothy. Bob was an active member of Professional Helicopter Pilots Association and he was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.   Bob was master rotary-wing aviator and a small fixed-wing aviator. He flew small planes as a hobby for about twenty years and piloted helicopters for almost forty years. He was rated on almost every helicopter the U.S. Army operated and he was rated on a multitude of ten-passenger or less small planes. Along with aviation, Bob loved Corvettes, riding motorcycles in his younger years, geography, genealogy, and cross-country road trips. On the entertainment side, he liked MASH, Elvis Presley, the Rat Pack, the show Two and a Half Men, Clint Eastwood, and the James Bond movies.   Bob rejoins those who preceded him in passing including his sister, Kimberly Sue Anderson, Shane’s mother, Lillian Elizabeth Anderson, his brother, Gregory Lynn Anderson, his father, Alvin Larsen Anderson, his brother-in-law, Harold Wesley See, Jr., and his mother, Callie Kathleen Wheeler Kilkuskie, along with several other extended family members. He is survived by his wife, Chong Hui Anderson, his son, Robert Shane Anderson, both of Daleville; his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Joe and Jamie Leopold Landers, his grandson, Henry Maxwell Landers, all of Lenexa, Kansas; his sisters, Barbara Kay Anderson-See and Shauna Lee Anderson (Chris), his nieces, Stephanie Camille Gomez and Wendy Michelle Shoell, his great-nephew , Brandon Gomez, and his great-niece, Madison Shoell, all of Henderson, Nevada, his cousin, Janet Mills, of Boise, Idaho, his cousin, Karalee Smith, of St. George, Utah, and several extended family members in Ohio, Utah, and Nevada.   Bob’s family would like to personally thank the following organizations and key people involved with his care: Davita Dothan Dialysis Center (Karen, Joe, Marty, and the techs and staff), Dr. Guru Ganjur-Prakash and his NP Melissa, Covenant Care Home Hospice (Brigette), and Flowers Hospital MICU5 (Kathryn and Catrina).   In lieu of flowers or sympathetic gifts, the family requests that a contribution of time or resources be made in Bob’s honor to either the Wiregrass Kidney Walk, the Alabama Kidney Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, the Children’s Hospital of Alabama, or another worthy charitable cause of your choosing.     To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Robert A.
