Ruth Kelley of Coffee Springs, Alabama, passed away at the age of 91 on October 6, 2017, at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel. The Reverends, David Bradshaw and Hubert McWaters, will be officiating. The burial will follow the service at Meadowlawn Cemetery, with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive guests at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 10, prior to the funeral service. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffee Springs, Alabama, for 76 years. While attending First Baptist Church, she worked in the children's department for 50 years, was the WMU Director, sang in the choir, and served in various other areas of the church and the community. Ruth attended Coffee Springs High School in Coffee Springs, Alabama, and graduated in 1945. She was happily married to John C. Kelley, and they resided in Coffee Springs, Alabama, with their children, Danny, Rhonda, and Michael. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in both Geneva and Chancellor, Alabama. Ruth was a faithful wife and mother who loved her family, church, and community. Mrs. Kelley was proceeded in death by her father, Brady McWaters of Goodman, Alabama, her mother, Minnie Parish McWaters of Geneva, Alabama, her husband, John C. Kelley of Coffee Springs, Alabama, her son, Danny Kelley of Enterprise, Alabama, her two sisters, Dorris Miller of Geneva, Alabama, and Nell Kelley of Waterloo, Indiana, and her brother, Harlan McWaters of Geneva, Alabama. Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Sweitzer of Enterprise, Alabama, her son, Michael Kelley (Teresa) of Coffee Springs, Alabama; her 5 grandchildren: Danny Kelley Jr. (Ibolya) of Tampa, Florida, Julie Weatherford (Eric) of Oakridge, Tennessee, Stephanie Sowle (Ted) of Parkville, Missouri, Michael Sweitzer (Amy) of Oxford, Ohio, and John C. Kelley II of Oakridge, Tennessee; 13 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Hunter, and Josephine Kelley of Knoxville, Tennessee, Irisz Kelley of Tampa, Florida, Esther and Ursula Weatherford of Oakridge, Tennessee, Ella, Lily, and Lila Sowle of Parkville, Missouri, Owen, Lane, and Lorelei Sweitzer of Oxford, Ohio, and Julian Kelley of Oakridge, Tennessee; and three surviving brothers-in-law: Mickey Kelley of Coffee Springs, Alabama, Jim Kelley of Waterloo, Indiana, and Joel Kelley of Jacksonville, Florida.
