Sally-Jane (nee Thompson) Vasilevich, age 90, of Wilmington, NC and formerly of Alliance, OH, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Enterprise, AL on March 25, 2025. Sally was born on August 19, 1934 in Toledo, OH to Blair McKay Thompson and Yvonne Stebbins Thompson. Sally was a 1952 graduate of Alliance High School in Alliance, OH, a 1954 graduate of Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, DC earning her Associate degree, and a 1956 graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, OH with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She continued her education and earned her Masters equivalent in Gifted Education through Kent State University and Akron University. She taught the Gifted program in the Alliance City School district for many years. Sally was an active member of St. Andrews on the Sound Episcopal Church in Wilmington, NC, serving as a lay reader and was a member of The Knit Wits group, knitting prayer shawls. She also served as Chief Judge at her election precinct in Wilmington and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Vasilevich, whom she married July 20, 1956, her parents, and her two brothers, Blair McKay Thompson II and Britt Thompson.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence “Chip” Vasilevich (Gloria) of Enterprise, AL; daughter Julie (Scott) Stanish of Chambersburg, PA; bonus daughter, Luanne Moore (Cindy) of Topeka, KS; grandmother to Alex Stanish, Molly (Kelby) McGinnis, Andrew (Iris) Stanish and Bryson Vasilevich; great grandmother to Charlotte and Kinsley McGinnis.
Sally's wishes were honored through cremation, and her ashes will be laid to rest at a later date in Alliance, OH, alongside her beloved husband, Larry.
