Sfc (Ret) John Joseph Kozik

SFC (Ret) John Joseph Kozik of Enterprise, AL passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home. He was 87. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Jim Endrihs officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00AM until service time on Saturday.           John served in the Military Police and later Army Aviation, serving a combat tour in Vietnam around and during the time of the Tet Offensive. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Air Medal. After military retirement, he and his family built a home in Enterprise where he would live the rest of his life. He worked for many years in aviation as a civilian. His wife, Anna, and he exercised hospitality extensively, inviting scores of persons and families to share in Anna’s extensive, expertly prepared meals over the years. When they were not entertaining, they were helping friends or acquaintances who were undergoing hardship. He was loved and esteemed by many within his church (Christ the King Lutheran) and throughout the Enterprise community, but especially within his family. During the final weeks of his life he was constantly attended by Anna and his children and grandchildren before dying peacefully in the home he had built and with the family in which he had invested so richly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Kozik; sister, Joann O’Hare; granddaughter, Marie Kozik. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Anna Kozik, Enterprise, AL; a son, David Kozik and his wife, Valerie of Bartlett, TN; a daughter, Diana Kroening and her husband, Robert of Ocoee, TN; 7 grandchildren, Noel, Christopher, Margaret, Jennifer, Katrina, Laura, Sophia; 4 great-grandchildren, Damien, Allie, Mason, Sara Rose; sister, Connie Zunich, Demming, NM.
