William Harold Stewart, age 82, of Jack, AL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2023. He passed away peacefully at his home with his last days spent surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 5, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Lanny Shepherd and Rev. J. C. Turner officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5711 County Road 114, Brundidge, AL 36010. Harold was born to James Manuel and Carrie Stewart on May 5, 1941, in Coffee Springs, AL. He graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University and chose a career as a vocational agriculture teacher. He retired from teaching in 1991 from Zion Chapel High School. He also served in the Army National Guard in his earlier years. He enjoyed raising hogs and vegetable gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Carrie Stewart, brother Hulon Stewart, and sister Verlon Stewart. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Stewart; one daughter, Janet Stewart, Troy, AL; one son, Michael Stewart (Nanna), Jack, AL; one grandson, Ty Stewart (Kaitlyn), Elmore, AL; one granddaughter, Taylor Felts, Birmingham, AL; one brother, Frank Stewart, Enterprise, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
